Writing style is all in how you present it...

If you don’t already know, I write political and social articles for the Denver Examiner, which is a national online news source. I also host political and sports teleconferences as a profession, so I think from that, you can understand why I write those types of articles.

I remember in an interview I did, I was asked the following question: "What makes you different from other authors?" I had to really think about that question, because at first I didn’t have an answer, but as I really started to think, I finally came up with an answer.

First and foremost, I consider myself an author, writer, and a poet. Poetry was my first love, followed by articles, short-stories and then novels. The thing is, I love to write in different genres. It’s not something I intentionally set out to do, honestly it just happened. To give you an example, as I mentioned before, I write political and social articles. I’ve written a mystery novel, a romance ebook and co-wrote an inspirational book and my upcoming self-help book will be released January 2010. I’m also currently working on a psychological thriller, but shhh, don’t tell nobody, I’m only forty pages into the book.

So if anything, I must at least be the most versatile author, if nothing else. Out of all the genres, I must say, I like writing mysteries and self-help. I can’t determine which I like the best, I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

So what do I like to read?
I actually read a lot of self-help, but (you should have known the ‘but’ was coming) I also love reading books from authors Stephen King and James Patterson as far as fiction goes. However, on many occasions I’ve been known to pick up books that I normally wouldn’t read, like romance or erotic, just to expand my creative mind. I also like reading books from new authors.

It’s interesting because although I mentioned earlier that I wrote a romance ebook, I’m actually not really a romance fan, so it was a challenge to write it, but I must say, I’ve been getting some rave reviews, so it must be somewhere in my genes. Who knows.

Don’t be surprised if in the future, I come out with a fantasy or a sci-fi book. No promises, but it’s something I’ve thought about, more for the challenge than anything else.

Until next time…
Happy writing and Happy reading!

A day for all the mothers all over the world. It’s a wonderful day isn’t it? Mother’s Day of course shouldn’t just be celebrated on just one day, but every day. I don’t just say that because I’m a mother myself, but because mothers in general are so very special.

It’s been said that being a mother is one of the hardest jobs in the world, however, the most rewarding job as well. If you are a mother, have a mother, or are a grandmother, take part in Mother’s day and remember how much love Mothers bring into the world.
